Sapio FAQs

Top Questions

I have accidentally ignored someone I am interested in. How do I find them?

The person should pop back up in your swipe feed within the next two weeks. Don't worry, they are not gone forever. We are currently working on allowing undo-swipes in our next release. Stay tuned!

How do I change my filters or search criteria?

There is a filter button in the top-left-hand corner of the swipe tab where you can filter by several criteria including age, distance, etc. The Explore tab also allows you to apply new filters or modify existing ones. You can also edit your filters from the Profile tab by selecting the Settings button and then find Filter my Matches within the Profile section.

Someone has liked me who doesn’t match my filters; why are people outside my filter criteria liking my profile?

Our app currently shows you people based on your search criteria; other users may have different search criteria than you, which means they’ll see your profile based on their own filters. Part of our app is about showing who has liked you, which means everyone who has liked you – regardless of whether they fit your filters.

I can’t chat with my matches! What’s up?

What is the point of the Question Explorer?

20 years ago, researcher Dr. Arthur Aron discovered he could make two strangers fall in love by having them simultaneously answer questions of increasing intimacy. In just hours, 30 percent of participants said they felt as close or closer to their new partner than they did their best friends and family.

Sapio’s Question Explorer uses this proven method as the foundation of its dating app. It allows you to scroll through over 21 question categories that matter most to you – “Hopes and Dreams,” “Achievements,” “Hypotheticals,” etc. – and discover answers from people with similar interests. Respond to questions to grow your visibility with others who value the same things.

About

Where can I download Sapio?

Sapio is available on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android users.

How much does Sapio cost to install?

Sapio is a FREE dating app.

What’s makes Sapio different from other dating apps on the market?

Sapio has a simple goal: We want to foster more meaningful conversations than “Hey” and “What’s up?”

Sapio is the only dating app with a foundation that’s based on a Q&A match system. This allows you to find your soulmate through their lived experiences, heartfelt opinions, and bold passions. Other dating apps offer a multiple-choice Q&A system, but Sapio’s Question Explorer is open-ended; it allows people to give unique answers that reveal individual personalities.

What does Sapio mean?

Sapio is short for Sapiosexual:

One who finds the contents of someone else's mind to be their most attractive attribute, above and before their physical characteristics. From the Latin root “sapien,” meaning wise. The term is now becoming mainstream with dating apps such as OkCupid and Sapio, which give users the ability to define their sexual orientations as “Sapiosexual.”

For many, defining oneself as Sapiosexual is also a statement against the current status quo of hookup culture and superficiality, where looks are prized above all else.

Give me a deep conversation or a passionate debate over brainless beauty any day. Someone who makes me reconsider my long-held beliefs and challenges my mind is a person I can easily fall for. There is no doubt that I'm a sapiosexual.

– Kristin Tynski, Sapio Co-Founder

Will you have a web version of Sapio?
